hey, i think this laptop looks great and the processor seems like it would handle gaming well, but i don’t have the budget for a 1080p screen right now. I was thinking maybe getting Amd A-8 and the next upgrade graphics card. Do you think these options would handle gaming like minecraft and video editing well?

      Hi!

what is your budget and what kind of video editing?
      Minecraft – yes

or I don’t understand what you mean?

  • mike

is there any way to know how the battery life would be in the system you rigged up? i’m thinking about getting your exact suggestion except with the 750gb 7200rpm hd.

    • http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com junky

as the reviews say – 5 to 6 hours surfing the web which is very good

  • ME_LUV_U_LONG_TYM

Hey Junky. This is the guy from Reddit that keeps on pestering you, asking for suggestion on a laptop i will buy in a month.
I just had a quick question: Why do you say that this is a good deal when Acer Aspire V3-551G-8454 is just for 500$ (on newegg) with basically exact same specs except for not having a full hd screen? I personally don’t think it’s worth paying 200$ more for this HP laptop. Did you know about this or not?
Oh and another question: My friend had this: Asus G73JH-BST7 laptop and I was wondering if there is a similar gaming capacity laptop or something better than AMD Radeon HD 7670M for 500-600$? Needs to be ultrabook or light like the Acer Aspire V3 though. Thanks.
And you have an amazing site and lots of knowledge and info. on these laptops for newbies to computer geeks. Anything I can do to help, just ask me. You’ve been helping me a whole lot. :)

    • http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com junky

because the dv6z-7200 has an very good matte 1080p screen, which the Acer doesn’t.
Yes, the dv6z is not very cost effective, but for those who have a strict budget of 700$ and want a good screen and are ok with not very high gaming performance, this can be a good option.

  • dougie

its seems to be a very good laptop and i am planning to customize my own to (1TB Hdd, 12GB RAM, Full hd..). Any disadvantages for this laptop?

    • http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com junky

I think it doesn’t have an mSata connector, if that matters, but mainly – it is not as powerful as other 800-900$ laptops for gaming
However, if you only need low midrange graphics performance, it’s an excellent choice, because of the 1080p screen.

why 12GB RAM? – you can buy 8/16GB for much cheaper than HP upgrades (newegg, for example)
