Lenovo Y500 SLI (with the ultrabay) Reviews

The “ultrabay” is an optional component that can be plugged into the Lenovo Y500 and provides another GT 650M GPU. The GT 650M SLI offers a more than a GTX 670MX gaming power in most cases (see review). It is plugged in place of the DVD. You have to use latest Nvidia Drivers and the “Nvidia Geforce experience” software. You’ll also need the Ideapad 170W PSU to activate the GT 650M SLI, according to Lenovo.

For this price, it is an excellent addition to those of you who want the additional power.

Any idea when the price of this gn36 is gonna be $137 again?

  3. James says:

I made this comment on the single-GPU Y500 deal page also — check the link, it’s back up to $230 again :(

  4. Ballerslfe says:

Why would you go dual graphics with a laptop? The CPU is going to bottleneck it, and overheat.

what do you mean? an I7 is often paired even a GTX 680M and the results are excellent. Yes, a faster CPU sometimes raises the FPSs a bit, but that’s insignificant compared to the price you have to pay and compared to the role the GPU has in 3D gaming

The Y500 with an additional GT 650M is a very powerful gaming machine
