Acer V3-772G Reviews

For $1000 including 120GB of SSD.

The new Acer top 17.3″ gaming machine. Comes with a GTX 760M, I7-4702MQ, 8GB DDR3. The notebookcheck review shows the throttling issue is of no real concern while gaming, so you get about the optimal performance. The GTX 760M is very close to the GTX 765M with being the same chip with lower clocks, so you can OC the GTX 760M in case you feel it isn’t enough.

The 1080p screen is quite good, though viewing angles could be better (it’s not an IPS panel). Battery running times are around 3-4 hours for light use, with WiFi on. Temperatures are average and it’s quite quiet.

So, bottom line, you get a good 17.3″ gaming laptop for such a price. If you will also consider a 15.6″, you have some other options, like the Y510p or Sager NP7352. But if you want a 17.3″ for around this price, this is probably the fastest option with 1080p screen.

Competitors

  • 15.6″ competitors, like the Y510p which has considerably higher performance and also a matte 1080p screen, for $1000.
  • Sager NP7370 – a 17.3″ gaming laptop from Sager. Priced around $1050-1100$ including Windows OS. You have more configuration options for the screen, HDD and more. It won’t be considerably faster than the V3-772G though.

  • No.

Is this laptops power better/the same as http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/lenovo-ideapad-y500-15-6-gaming-laptop-dual-gt-650m-gddr5-i5-3230m-6gb-ddr3-nice-1080p-display-1tb-hdd-for-900/
Also, is Acer good? I don’t have much experience with them.

    • Acer – like other manufacturers, depends on the model. This model should be good and according to reviews, the build quality is fair.

Compared to the Y500 – the performance in most games should be a somewhat lower averagely, but generally it’s on the same performance level.
The question is whether you want a 17.3″ laptop or a 15.6″ one

      • No.

Well I really would like an i7 in the 15.6″ without sacrificing GPU power..

        • Why?
Anyway, if you prefer a 17.3″ laptop, the this Acer V3 is good for you for this price. If what bothers you is the possibility that the Y500 is much faster – don’t sweat it, it won’t be considerably faster..

          • No.

Looks like I’m getting it then. Thanks man.

The adorama link is for the 750M version, not the 765M 🙁

    • what would I do without you?

  • Hey there,
I’m a 16 year old high school student looking to get a budget gaming laptop, by budget i mean <$1200… Ive looked into making my own box and it comes up to around $1000 with very similar specs to this so i think there is something odd about these laptops for about $1000, i was just wondering a few things:

    – Do these laptops include everything needed?… windows 7 and a optical drive
    – Is it a 1tb 7200rpm or 5600 rpm hdd?
    – Has it got a ssd
    – How much for shipping? i live in Australia, Gold Coast

I'm just concerned if this laptop actually has everything needed, it will be used for general things such as photos and videos aswell but mostlgy high-ultra settings gaming… this laptop is $1060 and i searched for similar speced laptops and came up with the $1300-$1600 range http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GE40-2OC-008US-14-Core-i7-4702MQ-8GB-DDR3-NVIDIA-GTX-760M-2GB-Gaming-Laptop-/161044021845 -this laptop has smaller hdd and similar specs and comes to $1200 without an OS , why is yours so cheap – i dont want to be ripped of as i am tight on money…???

    Thanks,
    Cody

    • Hi Cody

First of all – Australia has different prices. Do you have someone in the US that can bring you a laptop? if not, you need to check local prices or other eBay (like you did) – but it will make the prices higher too, due to shipping, VAT and things like that.
eBay prices are also usually higher for a new laptop.

Do you have specific games you want to play? do you want a 17.3″ sized screen or a 15.6″?

      about your questions:
      – This specific laptop has a Windows 8 OS installed
      – 1TB HDD, 5400RPM
      – no SSD
      – I do not sell this laptop, I only write about these laptops and deals
